dragging you down? The 9490 cartridge subsystem provides the capacity
and speed you need. The addition of a high-capacity cartridge loader
and stacker brings you the StorageTek TimberLine 9490 M44 cartridge
subsystem, effective for older environments with manual cartridge
operations.

The StorageTek® TimberLine® 9490 cartridge subsystem
is a high-performance 36-track tape subsystem ideal for data-intensive
applications and large batch/backup workloads.
Tape Matrix
9490 loads twice as fast as all other 36-track
tape drives and is 40% faster searching to midtape. This level of
performance makes 9490 an excellent choice for attaching to a StorageTek
automated cartridge system library.

Eliminate bottlenecks. The control unit has
both channel-side and device-side microprocessors for enhanced
throughput.

Shorten search time. Speedy mechanicals enable
four-second lead times and improve search time by 33 percent.

High cartridge capacity. A single cabinet has
four, 36-track cartridge transports, four high-capacity cartridge
stacker loaders and four semi-automatic subsystems.

Connect fast and wide. Native ESCON and SCSI-2
channel speeds.

Use double-capacity long media. Extended Enhanced
Tape (EETape) cartridges double the industry standard 36-track
capacity

(1.6 GB vs. 800 MB uncompressed).

Avoid maintenance downtime. All vital components
are redundant, ensuring reliability, availability and serviceability.
