Most storage products are optimized to store data; Texas Memory Systems designed the Tera-RamSan to move data. An unprecedented combination of RAM and fast Fibre Channel controllers enables the Tera-RamSan to move data faster than other storage.

The Tera-RamSan is a cluster of high performing RamSan modules.

Each module provides:

• 128GB of storage on high speed RAM;
• Up to 3GB per second of sustained random bandwidth;
• As many as eight 4Gbit Fibre Channel ports;
• Redundant internal UPS; and
• RAID backup to internal hot swap hard disk drives.

The RamSan modules operate independently to increase system availability, configurability, and performance. Configure the Tera-RamSan to match your installation’s needs, such as:

• Just a Bunch Of Solid State Disk,
• Logically grouped for large files,
• Host RAID or controller RAID protected, or
• A large fast storage area for SAN file sharing

Power Protection
Tera-RamSan protects your data from potential threats.

 Each Tera-RamSan module contains its own internal backup and battery systems, ensuring the persistence of data, even in the case of total power loss. If one or all of the modules lose power, internal batteries keep them active. After a period of time, the unit backs up all of its data to internal redundant, hot swappable hard disks. In addition, each RamSan module includes redundant, hot swappable power supplies - each with an independent power input.

Tera-RamSan includes Telnet, Web, SNMP, and front panel management tools.  

The Tera-RamSan's manageability features reflect that this solution is both a single system and the combination of independent storage subsystems. At the independent module level, each unit has the same manageability features as the RamSan solid state disk, including a browser-based Java monitoring tool, a front panel display, SNMP compatibility, and a Telnet configuration tool. In addition, administrators can view all modules at once through the TeraWatch monitoring software. This application presents a summary view of all installed RamSan modules and provides a single point to monitor the performance and any potential problems with the RamSan modules.
