NAS CDstor

512 CDs On-Line with Hard Drive Speed

Catalogs, Reference Material, Data Archives Featuring:

  • Hard Drive CD storage/caching.
  • Capacity up to 512 CD/DVD Volumes.
  • NetWare, Windows NT/2000, Unix NFS, Macintosh and Web Server are native to NAS CDstor.
  • File Server Independent - No Server Overhead.
  • Local or Remote CD Loading.
  • Networked CD-R Recording.
  • High-Performance Processor.

The Reactive NAS CDstor incorporates fast setup features and uses hard disk storage and caching for maximum performance. Connectivity to NetWare, MAC, Windows NT, NFS and HTTP Web Server environments is simple. Multiple clients using a variety of protocols can simultaneously access the same or different drives. A variety of drive storage, CD/DVD readers and writers are available. Units are available as standard tower, locking door, or rack mounted enclosures.

The explosive growth of networks and stored data has made Network Attached Storage very attractive to quickly and economically add on-line storage devices without downtime. NAS is the IT managers answer to costly storage additions and time consuming upgrades of traditional file servers.

NAS CDstor includes a "thin server" for attaching to the network. Keyboard, monitor, or mouse are not necessary to manage the server. It is managed from a workstation with a TCP/IP network connection to the NAS CDstor. The web browser interface has been developed specifically for the purpose of managing the NAS CDstor server. Management can also be done with a basic text editor, although the web browser interface is easy and intuitive.

As a dedicated circuit board, the hardware-implemented thin server includes network and hardware controllers, Ethernet 10/100 network interface, SCSI and IDE controllers, along with the necessary firmware to emulate NetWare, Windows NT/2000, Unix, HTTP, or Macintosh based servers simultaneously. It acts as a stand-alone server or member server in a Windows NT domain.

The NAS CDstor also has full Macintosh support including multiple zone support with supported protocols AFP over TCP/IP and Appletalk. Firmware in the thin server is flash upgradeable, using FTP or a serial connection.

NAS CDstor Network Attached CD Server provides hard drive speed for up to 512 CD volumes - automatically stores new CDs allowing immediate access on the network.

In the NetWare 4.x/5.x environment, the server can be added to an NDS Tree. Security for NetWare clients is managed from the NetWare Administrator program. Utilities are included with the NAS CDstor to help manage CDs, drive mappings, and user access.

This network attached storage device is a totally integrated network appliance, complete with the hard disks, CD drives and modular thin server. NAS CDstor is a fast, powerful Network Attached system allowing for quick and safe installation, without impacting the network servers. This high-performance appliance runs independently, therefore it will function even if the network server is 'down", and NAS CDstor provides high-availability to the users
