PLUG COMPATIBLE with Miltope MU-739 MSU
Full compatibility with the Miltope Mass Storage Unit (MSU)
8" floppy drive has been demonstrated. The modified MU-739
operates in the production environment without changes to
the interface or software. The modified MU-739 emulates the
drive parameters and timing specifications of the original
unit, making the change transparent to the host. The modified
MU-739 directly replaces the existing 8" floppy disk
with a high capacity Zip disk.
MORE DATA STORAGE - FEWER DISKS
MultiVolume provides additional data storage by creating
multiple volumes on the Zip disk. 8 to 256 volumes can be
stored on the disk. Mounted behind the disk access door, a
thumbwheel switch allows operator selection of the active
volume. Changing the thumbwheel switch during operation has
the effect of removing the floppy disk and exchanging it with
another. The 100 MB capacity of the Zip allows storing numerous
Journal, Menu, Dump, and IPL files on the same physical disk,
thus consolidating the data and reducing the number of disks
required. |
