uSSD™ 5000 Solid State Drive
uSSD™ 5000 Solid State Drive: All the Benefits of Flash in Cost-Effective, Low Capacities
SanDisk has expanded its flash-based solid state drive (SSD) product offering to cost-effectively meet low-capacity storage requirements. SanDisk® uSSD™ 5000 solid state drive enables a range of markets – such as low cost PC (LCPC), desktops that support Microsoft® Vista and can benefit from enabling ReadyBoost®, point of sale (POS) equipment and blade servers – to take advantage of all the benefits of flash at a fraction of the cost and size of the HDD in the 1 to 8 Gbyte (GB) range.
Rugged & Reliable: With no moving parts, uSSD™ 5000 solid state drive keeps working in challenging environments such as classrooms, kiosks and in space-restricted server racks. Our patented flash management ensures top data reliability using dynamic and static wear-leveling, and robust error detection and correction code (EDC/ECC).
Cost Effective: uSSD™ 5000 solid state drive lets you purchase just the right amount of storage, packed inside a memory device that is 4 times smaller than the size of the smallest 1.8” HDD. Choose between single-level cell (SLC) flash technology or the cost-effective multi-level cell (MLC) technology.
High Performance: An advanced controller, representing the company’s years of expertise with the USB interface, enables uSSD™ 5000 solid state drive to achieve a sustained read speed as high as 31.6 Mbytes/sec and a sustained write speed of up to 24.8 Mbytes/sec with single-level cell (SLC) technology.

uDiskOnChip Embedded USB Flash Drisk
uDiskOnChip (uDOC) brings high performance and high capacity to embedded systems for markets such as single board computers (SBCs), thin clients, consumer electronics, point of sale (POS) and telecom. uDOC supports larger OSs, heavier GUI applications, a wide variety of installed applications and local data storage. It merges SanDisk expertise in two worlds: the USB 2.0 high-speed interface and flash data storage for embedded systems. Never before have embedded systems designers had a plug-and-play storage solution with so much added value in a single flash device.
USB Flash Disk Leadership
SanDisk is a worldwide leader and patent holder of USB flash disk storage technology, used in its USB flash drive that has achieved phenomenal, worldwide recognition and success.
Fast Performance
uDOC uses a standard high-speed USB 2.0 interface enhanced with SanDisk Fly-By algorithms for Read rates as high as 20MB/sec and write rates up to 10MB/sec to optimize its performance as a USB flash disk and boot device.
Outstanding Data Integrity
SanDisk TrueFFS, an industry standard for reliability, is embedded into uDOC so no software integration is required. TrueFFS enables an outstanding Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) rate of more than 4 million hours.
OS Support
- Boot and storage for Windows XP Embedded Operating System
- Boot and storage for Windows for Point Of Service (WEPOS)
- Boot and storage for WinCE Operating System
- Boot and storage for Linux Operating System
Less Silicon, Most Cost-Effective
uDOC is based on the most advanced single level cell (SLC) NAND flash technology.
